Name information, please
I've jusst seen that a lady has been appointed Police Commissioner in New York City. Her name is Keechant Sewell; a familiar surname but a given name that's completely new to me. I'd love to know about it; of course, it could be unique.

RoxStar has a point. Its even been retyped as Keychant and Key Chant (by accident?). I don't even know how her name is spelled anymore. It looked like a surname, but I can't find evidence of that either.
I'm going to wager that it is a name made up by her parents. It combines a couple of elements that are/were very popular in so-called "black names" of a couple generations ago: Kee, as in Keesha/Kiana/Kierra, Shan/Chan as in Shante/Shanice/Shaniqua/Chantelle/Chanel.
I suspected as much too; but it's hard to tell from diagonally across the Atlantic. And if it is a made-up name, then it certainly succeeded where most of them fail: it belongs to a person as unique and special as it is!
