Crystal
If this name wasn't already dated, do you think it could be popular now?
What do you think of the name in general?
(I'm not a fan so no need to apologize if you don't like it!)

Nah, it has the wrong sounds to be really popular, and also the association with drugs would ruin it.
I like it, on the people named it - not so much for a baby. It'd make a good middle name.
I'd like it even if I'd never heard it as a name before (and if there were no drug association). I like the idea of Crystal as a name.
The homecoming queen from my high school class was named Crystal, and I still remember her pretty face. Bleached blonde. She was also relatively friendly and gentle, compared to the other people in her friend group.
Crystal is also the name of my dentist's office manager, who really seems like a lovely and kind human being.
My class-conditioning says that it's a middling white hippie-modern style name of the 1970s, somewhere among Brandy, Misty, Sherry, Dawn, Amber, Heather, Shannon, Holly, and April. It seems like it ended up coming off less "classy" than I'd guess namers intended Crystal to be - maybe because of the "sparkly"-ness.

Not where I live. People would want to tack a "meth" at the end of it.
how about Crystal Beth ...
Wouldn't that be a cool name, at least for a rroller derby queen? lol

I think I've met one.
I absolutely adore it. Every time I think of this name I picture a cold landscape, with a faint sunset/sunrise at the background and partially frozen lakes.
It looks and sounds it was popular in the 2000's alongside Lily, Madison or Destiny, as opposed to Michelle, Jessica or Heather in the 80's.
I hope it makes a comeback.

It was kind of a name ahead of its time. Like Beverly and Hillary and Dawn, it had its day a generation or two before names of its type were in style.
So yeah, I think if it hadn't gotten so popular in the sixties and seventies, it would have been at least fairly popular now.
I always liked it. My favorite cousin is named Crystal.

"Healing" crystals and the like are also very trendy right now with younger girls and women, which is another reason I think it would be popular now.
I've been thinking about Crystal recently, wondering the same question!
It definitely fits with the current nature name trend but I also think the reason why it was popular in the 80s is its similarity to other already popular Chris- names (Christina, Kristen etc.) They're now dated as well so I doubt Crystal will come back any time soon.
Personally, I like it. It's not something I'd use but I do enjoy the sound and the calming frozen water image.

Maybe? I mean Jade, Jasper etc are popular. But so ir crystal meth...so I dunno.
I've never liked it. Cold, hard and colourless - appropriately, this just about sums up a Crystal person I was at school with!
It's ok
I think it would be refreshing to see it on a baby. I don’t like it myself much.
I think Opal's coming back in the US.
Opal rose 300+ places in less than 5 years, but I don't think it'll make Crystal popular.
I don't think *al names have ever really been dated/popular as a group, like Chantal dropped off the charts in the US when Kendall was just starting to see more use.
I think people who might have used Crystal in the past are likely to use something like Opal, Willow, Luna, Iris, Nova, Sage, Chloe now.
