while I know it's supposed to be jay-mee my mind wants to read it as one syllable, jaim. for this reason i dont like it
Its cute, and Jay is a cool nickname that can obviously stem from it, but Y spellings bother my eyes for some reason. Can't imagine why. I prefer it to Jaime, despite my usual preference for AI spellings! And I do like that its unisex, unlike Jaime. I think that Jamie looks the most reasonable and aesthetic, but Jayme is the best alternative, as it isn't as popular, and makes more phonetic sense. Jay Who? Jay Me. But I do have to agree that Jayme and Jaime look like Jaimes/Jaymes with no S. That might be confusing for some people.

I’d prefer the Jamie spelling. It’s less confusing and you can still use the nickname Jay, though I think of Jay as a boy’s nickname and Jamie on a boy as a nickname itself for James. So I would say for a girl Jamie, maybe using Jay occasionally as a nickname and for a boy James with the nickname Jay.
