What do you think of Nuria? I've liked it ever since I read The Shadow of the Wind.*******************Personal Name List:https://www.behindthename.com/pnl/187938Guilty Pleasure Name List:https://www.behindthename.com/pnl/187938/140061

Nuria is not bad, but it's kind of an Auntie/old-school name for me

I've never read The Shadow of the Wind, but I love this name! It's on my PNL

It's such a good book! It's a sort of gothic mystery set in 1950's Barcelona involving a mysterious author and a hidden library. It's really a modern classic.

Sounds very medicinal.
Also too much urine in it, and it also looks like a mistyped nutria, this funny-looking otter-type thing that's a invasive pest in a lot of areas, including, I believe, around here.

Agreed, definitely getting urology vibes.

I have no literary / pop culture associations with Nuria, but I am fond of the name. It hasn't gotten much love on my PNL though (low votes). :-(

Hi !!!I can see the appeal of Nuria but I strongly dislike the look. I prefer Nour, Noura and Nora, all derived from Arabic "light".

Nuria is likely derived from the Arabic word as well. It's a Spanish place name, and a lot of those derive from Arabic.
