Emilia and Amelia
Thoughts on both names? Which one do you prefer?I'm willing to replace Amelia with Emilia on my top 10 feminine names. I still like Amelia, but I find Emilia better due to its sound and look on paper.

I prefer Amelia.I once knew somebody with the middle name Emily to honor her maternal Grandfather, Emil. It was slightly refreshing to see as a middle name. I’m yet to meet an Emilia, but I think this would be the slightly better choice to Emily.Amelia just looks better and that’s what I’m so used to. Admittedly I used to love the name Amelia, if you had asked me a few years ago what I would name a daughter, Amelia would likely be my answer. But now it’s just kinda plain me, and I prefer Amalia more. I can still appreciate Amelia with its strong history, meaning, and the class it has, and after all at the end of the day better boring than bad. But at the end of the day the disease just bothers me. I still prefer Amelia though. Nothing special about Emilia.

I like Emilia better, but in my first language these names are pronounced differently and have a different vibe.

I really like both. I go back and forth on which one I prefer. I used to prefer Emilia, but I think the negative associations I have with girls named Emily has influenced my preference for Amelia. I also love the Princess Diaries book series.

EmiliaAmelia could've been my name, actually.
But, to be honest, I do prefer Emilia, it's one of my favourite names.
Agree, Emilia sounds better, IMO, (I pronounce them differently).

They both have that whiney ME-E-E sound that I try to avoid. I prefer Amalia, though not enough to use, and I far prefer Emily, regardless of popularity, and would use it happily.

Amelia is just so dreadfully common right now I don't really care for it. I could possibly envision myself liking it again as an elderly person but right now I'm just tired of seeing it the same as Sophia, Isabella & Charlotte. Emilia is slightly better, it's an acquaintances name I'm fond of so I've slightly warmed to it but it's still too close to comfort to Amelia. Plus Emilia would be correcting the spelling of it all her life. Emmy is a cute NN, and it's probably the best Em name to arrive to it but it's not worth the hassle imo.

I like them both, especially in Polish, where Emilia is eh-MEEL-ya and Amelia is a-MEL-ya. I slightly prefer Emilia.
