Re: Laurel
The flower is beautiful, it's got interesting symbolism, and there are several people with Laurel related names who are important to me (Loren, Loretta, Lauren, Laurie), but I feel like the L--ruhl sound is clunky/awkward, and maybe this is silly, but it'd feel weird for an actual child of mine (or me, even as a potential name change) because my mom's hyper allergic to it. It seems similar in age to Cheryl and Carol (not in a bad way, just observing), but also it's modern-nature-trend-adjacent seeming like Lilac and Linden.I like Laurence as a unisex middle name slightly more. Maybe. Lauren is pleasantly even-keeled, and I wouldn't totally dismiss it if I were naming a child, but I've met so many my age that it might feel a little awkward to use for a baby. I'd use Laurentia, Lorenza, Lorena, maybe.I dislike Laura and always have. I can see the appeal intellectually, but something about it feels bone-tired or too washed out.~ song of the week: "Korreltjie Sand"
