I really like it on girls. When I found out that it was unisex, I couldn't believe that only men had been given the name at some point in time. But yes, it rhymes with Clair. Just like that name it has become unisex, and depending on where you live, there will be particular popularity with a certain gender. Blair is common for girls in the US, for the reason that Americans like French unisex names on women. You're not likely to see an American man named Clair or Renée.
