There are a few English-speaking Anna people where I live, but in general Anna, pronounced UHnnuh, signals an Afrikaans person.
I find it frillier than Anne and more complicated than it needs to be. I would never use Anna; I have used Anne (my mn, my paternal grandmother's mn and now my daughter's second mn).
