Bette
How do you feel about Bette? **After supposedly dying on January 30, 2007 after eating tainted pancakes, she returned several times as an angel and was revealed to be alive on May 17, 2011. )**

I much prefer Betty. For some reason it seems friendlier to me, like the mum who bakes cookies and cupcakes for her family each week, whereas Bette seems more like an independent, don’t mess with me type woman in a tight skirt and matching jacket! Haha.

I don't much care for it, not just because it's seen as dated, but also because I find it's very plain. (Like seeing the names Sue or Lynn for example) I rather see the name Betty and that's saying something. At least that has a bit more to it and has more...I dunno, substance? Not a whole lot of course, just definitely more than "Bette"

I say it the same as Betty and like it more. It's pretty awesome. Too bad about the heavy association with Davis, but w/e, it's not like gen whatever will recall her very much. I don't like Bette pronounced "bet," though. It's like ... a diminutive of "B." Like Vette or Lette. Rather see Beth pronounced Bet.

Hi !!!Bette? Boring and dated as many diminutives such as Beth, Betty, Bettie, Betta, Betsy, Bess ...Come on...something fresh and lively!

...Her hands are never cold,
she's got Bette Davis' eyes...
The association with the actress and the song are rather lovely, but Bette is dated. As a nickname for Elizabeth, I prefer Betty, Bessie and Beth.

I knew a Bette once - an Englishwoman, so most folks she knew would have done at least some French at school, but she said they mostly guessed it sounded like Betty, which bugged her. I like it: seems fresher than Betty.
