Zia
What do you think of the name Zia?
ZEE-ya
Which middle name would you give her?
Is it far-fetched to use it as nickname for Azalea?

I think it’s a great little name, I like the sound, the look, the Arabic meaning, but it’s all masculine to me! The fact that it means aunt in Italian doesn’t bother me, as there are so many names with multiple meanings in different languages.
Way too much of a stretch as a nn for Azalea. I’d just use Azalea (Zay as a nn maybe?) and then keep Zia for a boy.

It means “aunt” in my first language and I can’t get past that.

I don't really like it and wouldn't use it as a nn for Azalea
I love the sound of Zia, but the Italian translation gets brought up enough that I envision it would be a problem. Aside from that I really love it. The Z makes it so cool and fun, and I think it works perfectly as a nn for Azalea (I'd encourage it!). For middles I like:
Zia Sahar
Zia Helena
Zia Iris
Zia Beatrice
Zia Pari
Zia Catherine
Zia Sahar

Zia Iris
Zia Beatrice
Zia Pari
Zia Catherine
There used to be a really good Italian restaurant near here called Zia's Pasteria. It closed down about ten or twelve years ago, I think, but it was so good.
My understanding is that Zia is italian for Auntie, so no, it doesn't make a good given name.
