Rowan for a girl
WDYT of Rowan for a girl? It’s not my usual style at all but something about this name is so beautiful to me.

I much prefer it for a boy. There are so many lovely botanical names for girls to choose from, it makes no sense to choose Rowan imo.

It’s ok. I find it very handsome on a boy though and prefer Rowenna on a girl.
I think Rohan would appeal to me more on a girl.

I like Rowan for a girl. I don't have much else to say about it than that. It's a cool name.

I love it for a boy (it was my top boy name for a long time, and it's still high on my list), but I've always been lukewarm toward it on a girl. It's fine, it just... does nothing for me, really.

One of my friends from high school has a daughter named Rowan. It makes sense as unisex being a nature name, but it reads strange to me as feminine, anyway, I guess about like Roman or Owen would. I do like Rowena and Rohana.

It’s not exactly a name I’ve really ever thought about, but I don’t think I like it for a girl. It certainly seems to have a boyish vibe to it, to me.
How are you pronouncing it? Is the -ow part more “cow” or “oh”?
I don’t think I’ve ever met someone with the name, but for some reason as I’m sitting here, I keep pronouncing it Row-an, to rhyme with cow, instead of Row to rhyme with crow.
Maybe I have met someone and that’s how they said it?

It's great for a girl! We recently had a server at a restaurant named Rowan. She said she loved her name.

I really dislike the name Rowan (on either gender). I know both a female and male Rowan and the name works on both genders.

I only like it for a boy

I love Rowan, but for a boy only. I think Oliver and Rowan would make great brothers.

Rowan on a girl is decent. But for some reason I prefer it on a boy. I can explain it.

I like it. I prefer it more for a girl than a boy.

I actually only like Rowan on a girl, I consider it a girl name, not a boy name. A country singer I like had a little girl in July and he named her Rowan Marie

I know two from just my graduating class's children.I don't see the same appeal. I also do not like Rowena.

I prefer it gor a boy, but I still like it for a girl well enough.

It’s one of the few ‘unisex’ names I prefer on a girl. I like it a lot.River (boy) and Rowan (girl) are my GP names for twins, haha.

On a boy it's really handsome. On a girl it feels even more like a nature names (for some odd reason), but it's still cute. I imagine a redhead and it is sort of hard for me to imagine on a child which doesn't have red hair. The only female Rowan I know has red hair.I can imagine Rowan on any kind of boy, even though I do get the image of a dark haired, handsome man with green eyes. On girls it's a redhead name to me and I imagine a cute girl with red hair.On a boy it feels more like a neutral, handsome name whereas on a girl I get a strong image of the tree. It's the same with Robin. Handsome on a boy but I don't really think of the bird. On a girl I get a strong bird image, which is nice.Yeah, that probably didn't make a whole lot of sense.Bottom line: I like it on both but slightly prefer it on a boy and on girls I get a stronger nature image.

You’re right. It’s so delicate and gorgeous. Makes me think of lace.

I prefer it for a boy, but I do like it for a girl too. I've known a few women named Rowan, although I think at least one of them assumed the name as an adult. If I'd had a son he would have been Rowan, but I don't think I would have used it for a daughter.
