I like Winifred, but I don't like Winnie. Winnie sucks.
I wouldn't say it's cruel to name a modern child Winifred, but I wouldn't want it to be MY name. As a middle name, it's fine. Ooh! If you called her Freddie, that would be all right. Freddie, FTW.
