I don't care for it in the least. Without a doubt it's one of the most unappealing and awkward names to ever come into existence. A lot of the reasoning has to do with the fact that it sounds very similar to the word, "Thirsting" which immediately comes to mind.

I think of an older wealthy man who is a bit of a stuffed shirt. I can’t see this name on a child.

I prefer Thorstein or Thorsten.

I agree with Constance it makes me think of a rich old man, like a caricature of a real person but not necessary a "real" name if that makes sense?

Thurston Howell, III from Gilligan's Island came immediately to mind.

Because of the association with the character, I think of Thurston as would be upper crust or at least someone who likes wealth.

First of all, I love Sonic Youth! I like Thurston, it's sort of old-fashioned but in a quirky way. Of course a lot of people associate this name with Thurston Waffles, that screaming white cat from Instagram. That's not a bad association in my opinion.
