Jenna
Thoughts on Jenna?Do you like it better than Jennifer? Is it less classic? More or less dated?I think it's cute and spunky and even though it became super popular super fast in the 80s it also fell rather quickly so I don't find it tired or dated (which is kind of weird because these names usually sound dated).Thoughts?Any idea on where it came from and whether it has been used historically? Or was it just made up in the 80s when there were too many Jennifers and they needed more nicknames? Please rate my list: https://www.behindthename.com/pnl/6232

I love Jenna, but I really dislike Jennifer. Jenna seems less dated — cute and spunky, like you said. I don't like the "fer" sound in Jennifer so Jenna solves that problem, and she can still get called Jen, which is a nice little informal nickname. I'm not sure about its history or etymology. I always assumed it was invented as a nickname for Jennifer, but I don't know if that's really the case or not.*

I adore Jenna, it's more modern and less boring than Jennifer (which I also like). It sounds 2000's rather than 80's to me.Jenny was originally a medieval English diminutive of Jane, so maybe Jenna was one as well.Surprised to see this name used in Finland - maybe they got inspired by Jenna Wade on Dallas?
