It still sounds like Lettuce, or did in the late 19th, early 20th centuries: I encountered a book of children's poetry once, which included a poem about sweet Lettice looking through her lattice ... Lettie is sweet for children all right, but I don't see it ageing very well. Letitia ... ? Seems more adult.
