I like both, but I like Boris more; it's more grand and regal. Ivan is still a beautiful name, but I only like the English pronunciation, as ee-VAN reminds me of Yvonne.

Boris. It's so silly.Ivan is handsome but also I don't trust him, he's TOO handsome and slick.

I almost named my tortoise Boris, back before Johnson was known here in the US.I have a soft spot for the name. It sounds sweet in English and in Russian. For Ivan I like the Russian pronunciation but not "EYE-vuhn" .I think I would choose Ivan though, it is classic and has several sweet nicknames, and it would be an honor name for me.

Ivan. It's more handsome. Boris is a big, bushy mustache.

BorisIt has more personality to me (an American).

Boris! I love Russian names and Boris is the more Russian of the two. It's also more cuddly/cozy than Ivan, which is more airy/ethereal

How do you figure? Ivan was the name of 7 monarchs of Russia compared to just one named Boris. Ivan has also long been an extremely popular name in Russia, whereas Boris isn’t (and hasn’t been) on the charts in quite a while.

Ivan, just because I don’t like Boris.

Ivan for sure. Boris doesn’t have very good associations and even then the name isn’t that attractive. Ivan wins by a long shot. Conversation done.

Connotations of either Ivan the Terrible or Boris Johnson? I choose Ivan. I do genuinely prefer Ivan, it has an antique charm to it and is reminiscent of a few names in my family tree. It feels upright and proper but also like it could be an Everyman name. Boris is clumsy, it has a blurting sort of sound.

What’s so bad about Boris Johnson? No matter what prime minister you get, there will always be people moaning.

You mean apart from the racism, the homophobia, the classism, the fact he let 131,000 people die from coronavirus ("let the bodies pile high"), the fact he receives dodgy donations from multimillionaires to line his own pocket? Apart from all of that? How much time do you have?

The news only tell you what they want to tell you. They don’t tell you the whole thing or the truth. They make it the same for every prime minister, royal family or president. That’s why Meghan and Harry are hated, the news never told people about why they left the country. Don’t get brainwashed by what people say on social media or the news.Also. Who said Boris was racist or homophobic? I never heard that news.

I don’t know how to explain to you that a prime minister choosing to let people die during a pandemic is bad.

I’m literally an academic, I’m not an idiot. I’ve probably been following politics longer than you’ve been able to talk. This is incredibly patronising.

Oh definitely Ivan, I can see it working universally across ages and nationalities. While Boris seems to be stuck as an 'old Slavic man' name. Also Boris just seems very slow and clumsy.

Ivan! Complete no brainer. Ivan is so handsome and sophisticated, regal, even. Boris is dense, dumb, and boring. A true bore.
