If you had to call your daughter Katie, which full name would you put on the birth certificate (more)
or would you just stick with Katie?Do you like Katie? Are you in the US or UK (just wondering if it is perceived differently because it seems to have been common more recently in the UK, and way more popular in general). Please rate my list: https://www.behindthename.com/pnl/6232

I'm in the US. I have quite a few friends that go by Katie (late 20s, early 30s). Some of them are Katy or Kati or some other variation of it as well. For most of them, it is short for Katherine. I do have one friend whose legal fn is just Katie. I think if I had to call my daughter Katie, I'd name her Katharina just because I think it is a bit more interesting than Katherine.

Katherine or Katayoun.I don't care for the sound of Katie but it seems like a very friendly and approachable name (US)

I probably would put Katherine on the birth certificate. I like Katie but because there are so many of them here in the US, it seems kind of generic. On second thought I might put Kathleen on the birth certificate. Kathleen doesn't get the use here that it did a few decades ago.A few years ago I met a little girl named Kathy. This really stood out because there are zillions of Katies now but there used to be zillions of Kathys. Somehow there was a change in the alignment of the cosmic forces and Kathy no longer was the go-to nn but Katie was. It's strange how these things happen. My DIL is a Katy BTW. Her birth certificate name is Kathryn. She says Katy is logical because of the "y" in Kathryn. I can't argue.

Katerina. Beautiful, beautiful name. Love. To be extra, Katerina Yvette.I really don’t care for Katie. Hell, I wouldn’t even use it as a nickname.

I'd use Katharine; DH would use Catherine! There are innumerable Katie people here in South Africa, the oldest being in their 30s I think, though I'm out of touch. And before them there were Kathy people. I prefer Kathy to Katie, and Kitty to both.

It's fairly common here in the US. Katharine.

Katrina or Katharine. Not the biggest Katie fan though.

CatherineI strongly dislike Katie. It's whiny.

My favourite Katie name is Katinka but I also think of Kate as its own full name these days so maybe Kate.I don't really have a strong opinion on Katie other than the one Katie I've known is absolutely lovely. I know soooo many Kate's tho (some Katherines some just Kate).

Katharina would be my first choice, or maybe Katharine. I hate Katie, I was up to my eyeballs in Katies at school. None of them had “full” names.

I like Katie, but only as a nickname. For a full name I would use Keturah.

I’d use Katherine. I prefer Kit / Kitty as a nn though.

I'd just put Katie if that's all I was going to use. It's okay, and sweet, but I find it pretty boring. Yes it has some energy, but it feels like another name to me. My favourite full name for Katie would be Catiana.

Skadi! Although Skaði is cooler and I'd prefer that spelling, Skadi would be more straightforward. I don't like Katie, no.

Kathryn. It's an okay name. I guess, where I'm from, Katie isn't that well-known. Catalina, Katherine, Catherine, Kathryn, and even Katheryn are more well-known.

It’s childish and too sweet. Full name would be Katrina.

Kathleen, or Kathryn.I like Katie fine. I'm in the US... it's quite common here. I know a couple Katie just Katies.

I'm in the US. I was actually thinking of Katie today - that it seems sweeter to me than it used to, though isn't a fav. It's old-fashioned, cutesy. I like it more than Kitty or Sadie. I guess if I liked Katie, I'd stick with that or Katherine. Catriona / Catrina is my favorite form of Catherine, but I'd pick Cat as a NN for any of those. I also prefer Kathleen to Katie and don't think of that as a NN or in need of a NN.

Although I'd prefer Kate as nickname, I'd use Katharine as the full name for Katie. I'm in the US and I don't particularly like Katie but I do know a few.

I prefer Katie as a nn. I'd use Kate, Katherine or Katelyn

I would put a full name on the birth certificate, not a nick name. I would probably choose Katerina.Katie is childish and kind of bratty to me. I prefer variants such as Kat, Katinka, Kalena etc.

Cateline, I guess. I hate Katie though (from the US). It's just so meek and shy.

Katarina, Katerina or Katina.I would prefer to use their full name over Katie.

Catherine.Katie is ok, but I'm not a huge fan. I'd prefer Kitty or Cat. I grew up with many girls named Catherine/Katherine or Kathleen who went by Katie. Not in US or UK.
