I've loved it as a girl's name, for well over 15 years, since an old archived message from 2005 told me that last week, and I believe that the TV series The West wing is the culprit for that, since there's a female character named Ainsley Hayes.

I actually really like it even though someone once told me it looked like "anally".

I am upset that this name has migrated to girls. I once was in love with a really nice man named Ainslie. It would be nice if it remained masculine.
