Ithell & Unica
I've been reading a lot about the Surrealist painters/writers/visionaries Ithell Colquhoun (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ithell_Colquhoun) and Unica Zürn (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unica_Z%C3%BCrn), both of whom have unusual names that have captivated me. What do you think of Ithell (in an interview, her biographer pronounced her name like Eiffel but with a "th" in place of the "ff" or like a hybrid of Iris and Ethel) and Unica? Here are the BtN submissions: https://www.behindthename.com/name/ithell/submitted & https://www.behindthename.com/name/unica/submittedAnd here, of course, are some combos:Ithell Sophonisba

Ithell sounds and looks strange. At first glance, I though it was ith-EL, which I prefer - it sounds like the name of some Babylonian goddess. Unica looks like a brand name, I want to pronounce it OO-nee-tsa.

I made an Ithell thread a few months back and got total crickets in response, so I'm glad you made another one :)I like Ithell, but maybe not so much if it's "EYE-thull". It's like Ethel, but it's also got the word hell in it - bonus. It has a "sleepy village that is actually a secret cult" vibe to it. Ithell Perdita is very pretty, that one jumped out at me. Unica feels like a brand name, it doesn't really excite me. Is the first syllable "oo" or "you"? If it's the second it sounds too much like "eunuch" for my liking. But I admire it's "uniqueness".
