I prefer it on a girl. It sounds alright for a boy. I think I'd spell it Bryer or Brier or something different. I usually don't like made-up or alternative spellings, but I'd want to make it look more masculine and less Disney princess.

I like it! It is more of a guilty pleasure for me, so I wouldn't use it real life, but it is an excellent name for a character in a fantasy setting. Briar or Bracken could work on a boy fairy or the son of a Hedge Witch or a satyr perhaps.

I like it more on girls but I also think it can be handsome for a boy. Especially just the sound of it; Briar has a roughness that makes it work pretty well as a unisex name imo

Briar wouldn't work for anyone in South Africa: it sounds like 'braaier', which in Afrikaans means a barbequeing person.

I prefer it on a girl, but it’s not horrible on a boy. It kinda reminds me of Jade, and Bellamy on a boy. It has that feminine feel to it, but that’s kinda what makes it good on a boy.

It's better than Briar on a girl. Because it sounds like Brian.
But it's still not a great name imo. I don't like the sound of it and the meaning is not namey.
