It was pretty, but it's been ruined.

I think it's gorgeous. I don't really associate it that much with Trump, because I just didn't ever really pay attention to her. It's just a name to me - it's not as strongly associated for me as, say, Hillary, or Condoleezza. I can see how people would associate it with Trump though - and that's not a plus for the name.

I used to like Melanie more, but now I like it about the same.
Like Valeria, it used to seem like Valerie was more appealing, but these days that's not so, the -ia seems more fashionable.

Ignoring the Trump thing, I think it’s a genuinely pretty name. And for what it’s worth, I also think Ivanka is a gorgeous name. But at the moment, I think most people (unless in an Eastern European context) would think about Trump.

I like Melanie but I think Melania has a slightly more appealing sound to me.

It’s okay. I prefer Melanie.

It's old-fashioned to me since one of my great grandfathers was named Melanio. I don't think of Melania Trump. I think it's okay.

I dislike bland Melanie, and Melania is the same with added ornamentation.

Too close to melanin and melanoma imo. Obviously that's the origin of the name bur the association with the most deadly type of skin cancer ruins it for me.

Trump is my first thought. It's an ok name, but not at the moment. Melanie is nice

I wouldn't like it even without the Trump connection. It's just too foreign-looking and sounding to appeal. Melanie is a name I love, though.
