(they don't sound very similar)Or something about Keisha's etymology? (also see my thread on the name facts board). Please rate my list: https://www.behindthename.com/pnl/6232

I love Keziah and the proper pronunciation is keh-ZIE-ah. I like Keisha too, but not sure where it comes from. I don’t think it’s from Keziah though, I think it’s more of an invented name.

I pronounce Keziah as “keh-ZIE-Ah”. I’ve never heard of Keisha being related to Keziah.

I have never thought of Keziah pronounced any way but Ke-ZIE-ah. Interesting.
To me, it feels like the name of the girl who runs a church coffee-shop. Very similar vein to Keturah for me. Keisha is so much more modern. I knew several growing up. It's a very pretty sound and very simple. It's nothing I would ever choose myself, but I adore two-syllable names, so I still like it. A few websites on Google claim that Keisha is a variant of Keshia, which is a variant of Keziah. This seems very natural to me, so I tend to believe it. The pronunciation listed for Keshia is both Ke-SHY-ah and Kesh-ee-uh. Sites referenced: BellyBallot, BabyNamesPedia, Wikepedia, Wiktionary, and Definitions.net

I knew a Keziah. She said it KAY-zee-ah. I never thought about Keisha coming from Kezia. I always thought it was maybe based on an African name and evolved in the US.
