Re: Alfred vs. Arthur
I can see the appeal of Arthur I think - if I squint maybe. It's a softer name - which I prefer - and it's associated with a legend which I guess is a bonus. Perhaps if I lived a few decades ago I might like it... maybe. But I do like Alfred. I think I like most names which can be shortened to Fred/Freddie by default. However! I really, really hate the nickname Alfie for some utterly strange reason. It's not like it's bad or anything, there's just something about it. Maybe I knew somebody with this name when I was very very young and they bullied me or something - and when I say "very very young" I mean before Nursery because I remember everybody in primary school and none of them were Alfie / Alfred - maybe playgroup - or maybe it was the name of some dickish little boy on holiday. I really don't know, it just gives me bad vibes, you know? While I'm averse to Alfie (and Alf and Al for that matter which are unattractive and not cute), I do like Alfred. It is the name of a cute little yellow duck whose family was killed in a car accident, and was raised by the family friend mole. I can't be angry at it lmao---"one particular boogie will move mirror massaging with stirring crepe mixture, positioning loaves while in the furnace then toting items in containers" ~ best Russian daing sites (guest, 198.144.149.xxx) (2020)Formally PrincessZ and Princess Magpie
