Love it. I think it sounds mysterious and cool. It works well for me in combos because I like a lot of names that end with -a.
I think Celeste makes a beautiful fn. It also often works well in the mn spot. It's the name of my ex's great aunt. Being around her made me appreciate Celeste. She was a very sweet, loving woman so not only did I have good associations with the name but I mulled it over a lot, trying it in various combos and so forth. I usually don't care about name meanings at all but Celeste is a standout in that regard too.
Not a fan in the least. It's honestly one of my most hated names. I just simply fail to see the appeal of it. From my perspective, I think it sounds excruciatingly uptight and just overall unpleasant. It also doesn't help that it rhymes with a few, well, unfortunate things. :S
I like that it's self-contained and mannered but also keyed in to the sublime. I prefer Celestia, though.
I think it's pretty! The spacey meaning and feel is really nice. I've only known two Celestes, one adult and one girl my age I knew way back when I was young. Everyone I've known have liked this name, and it seems that everyone here likes it, too.
Thankfully, it's not extremely popular, so it's a nice medium name on the way to being crazy unique but not completely.

It's pretty, but insubstantial. Like a lace doily dyed baby blue.
Celeste literally screams beautiful.
Makes a great fn and mn.

I like it. I prefer Celestia and Celestine over it (as it otherwise feels unfinished) but I like it.
I have one problem with it though, but its not a real problem. I once half-listened to a documentary about incest or it could have been a specific couple - I can't remember. Either way, they had a daughter and named her Celeste.
..."Incest Celeste" has stuck in my mind ever since.
Not sure how close they were with the incest tho. In the UK its legal to marry your first cousin (because the royals love to "keep it in the family") so it could have been about that. Maybe.

I used to not like it at all, but I really like it now. It's beautiful, ethereal, and I like that it makes me think of stars. Ironically it also feels somewhat down to earth too.
Love it
Which pronunciation do you prefer cheh-LEH-steh or sə-LEST?
I lean toward cheh-LEH-steh, sə-LEST seems incomplete.

One of my long-time favourites. I was really into the mystery of the Mary Celeste for a while, so the name has a lovely old fashioned, slightly spooky/tragic aura for me.
Love it
