Melody
Thoughts on Melody?
It was one of my favorites for a really long time. Then I named SIM twin sisters Cecily and Melody and they were so annoying that I disliked the name after a while. Don't name Sims your favorite names!
Anyway that was some time ago and I am starting to like it again. Do you like it? Is it tacky? (I don't think so but I have heard this a lot).
Is it in the Lyric-Angel-Crystal category (I like all of these but I know many people get a certain image).
Or in the Cadence-River-Sky category?
Do my categories make sense? Guess not.

I don't think it's tacky, I would consider it a little bit dated here but that's not the worst sin a name can have. I of course prefer Elodie which is one of my favorites so my liking of it leaks into Melody which I still have a sweet spot for as a result. Ummmmm I'm not really sure which category of these it would fit under, I think either tbh.
Also ha! That's funny. I only use my favorite names on kids in Sims 4 because all of the characters have less personalized in gen thus they are less likely to ruin it. Though lately I've introduced myself to Sims 3 because I was told they had more individuality and better game play and the person was correct. As a result so far I've only been naming characters names I mildly like just to make sure they don't ruin some for me lol!

Melody is pretty. It has a kind of soft-70s energy to me, like Robin or Amy. It's poetic but also very accessible and down to earth. I don't find it tacky, just a bit dated, but not in a bad way: in a comforting way. Looks like this name is on the rise, which is surprising but nice!
I guess it's sort of in the Cadence-River-Sky category. I actually know of someone with daughters named Cadence and Melody - now that's tacky. Especially since they are spelled "creatively".

I know one shouldn't, but like many teachers I associate (some) names with past pupils. And that puts Melody right at the bottom of every known list. Exactly like the 13-year-old in my long-ago class, Melody is genuinely pretty as a word and a concept, but as a name for a person it is grotesquely inappropriate. The one I knew was very beautiful, but a liar and a cheat and too lazy to think for herself at all, so constantly surprised at being caught out, yet again ... it was fascinating, actually: I was a first-year teacher, and when I met that class Melody stood out for her sweet-faced beauty, but by the end of the first week, I could no longer see her as lovely in any way.
Her parents were prosperous, and used money to solve their problems, including making their daughter go away and be happy somewhere else.

I'd put it in your first category. Its very pretty and evokes a pleasant feeling. My only concern is whether it frequently would be confused with Melanie.
I've always liked Melody. I think it has a vaguely hippyish vibe, if anything.
It's ok
