Re: Jade

It's a nice combo.
I'm neutral about the name Jade. I've never met one, and I tend to think of the word jaded before I think of the green mineral. But it has a nice sound. I guess I personally prefer Jaiden (for a girl), or just Jay.
I feel like Jade is a little bit passe now - like the era of Madison and Aiden.
It's also a name that has a 'mediocre' vibe, from day one. Like Amber, Dawn, Crystal, Star, Lacey. It has a certain lack of "classy"-ness.
I don't think that's negative, myself. It could even be kinda positive. I like tons of names that are like that, Brandy, Sherry for example - and it doesn't make me like Jade any less. But I think it's 'a thing,' and worth mentioning when I'm asked opinion of the name. It's borderline whether or not I'd like to be named a name that is perceived like that. Probably I wouldn't, at least sometimes. Especially a name that is also about 20 years past its popularity peak and likely to make a gal sound older than she is. So Jade *for a baby* doesn't enthuse me. As the name of someone who's already named, I think it's a nice name. It just doesn't happen to appeal a lot to me personally.
