This is the name of a prominent street in the city I was born in, sometimes I think of it as an honouring name for that reason. The street is always "LEE-la" so that's how I'd say it. I think chances are pretty good that a Leila would get multiple pronunciations, yes.

If you want LIE-la I'd say go for Lila, which is also beautiful and more straightforward.

I'd go with Laila. I pronounce both Leila and Layla as LAY-la.

1. Lila (2) - Lie-lah. It's more elegant than Leila or Layla, which are both Lay-lah to me.

2. Lyla - my second choice. It reminds me of Myla and Kyla and gives us Lie-lah.

Although my favourite pronunciation has always been - Lee-lah as in Lila (1), I might even use Lilla to get an -ee- sound.

If you spell it as Leila she is more likely to get Lay-la or Lee-la imo. If you want Lie-la then spell it Lilah or even Laila. I prefer Lilah over any other version. It is a confusing name though, and I wouldn’t give it to my daughter for that reason.

That pronunciation of Leila isn't intuitive to me, but English is my first language. Leila is always Layla to me.

It is very confusing. When I saw it in your subject line I thought LEE-la and then LAY-la. LIE-la did not occur to me.

Pretty. I do like Leila more than Layla. It's more softer and laid back. I think ppl would most likely call her LEE-la.

I had a friend named Leila in the Summer of 2019. She pronunced it as "LAY-la". I think its pretty. To me Layla and Leila make little to really no difference but that's me personally.

My DH has an aunt named Leila and they speak Arabic and pronounce it as LAY-la. If you want LAY-la, then I’d go with Layla. If you want LIE-la, then I’d go with Lila.

These names are all great with Lila (Lie La) being my favorite. Lila may be the least confusing spelling in the US, but, yes, there will always be mispronunciation but I think it would be worth putting up with.

I do prefer Layla or Laila. It’s golden yellow whereas Leila is green grey.

Hmmm my first instinct would be to think it was Lelia, this spelling feels a bit to different for me to be Layla & one of her variants. I would think it was "Lelle-lia" than realize the location of the I and L and then assume Lee-la. After that I'd guess Lay-la but Lie-la would be the last of my guesses, though I'm dyslexic and reading pronunciations of names I am not familiar with vary on any given day.
