Zinnia
WDYT? I'm not sure if I 100% like this name, because I associate it with the nasty mother in Roald Dahl's Matilda and it's too frilly. The Zinnias are beautiful flowers. Maybe as a middle nameEsme ZinniaHattie ZinniaZinnia JoelleZinnia EloiseZinnia Annelise

I have trouble thinking of Zinnia as a name. Also there's this weirdness: I say ZIN-ee-ah but my husband says ZEEN-ya. Where he came up with that pronunciation I don't know.

I think it’s an underrated flower name. Far more interesting and pretty than Lily! I don’t think it’s too frilly at all! It has more of a spunky nature vibe than lacey princess. I wouldn’t let the Matilda association put you off, it’s not that well known.
Zinnia Eloise is lovely :) Zinnia Annelise has too many n’s running together.

Zinnia is one of my new favorite names! I love the flower - and I'd absolutely forgotten Zinnia was Matilda's mother. :-("Zin" is a cute nickname. Also kind of reminds me of zinfandel. Of the combos you posted, I like Zinnia Eloise the best.Alexandra Zinnia

I once read a book, a YA novel I believe, with twin characters Zinnia and Rose (Rose died in either infancy or early childhood, idr), but I can't for the life of me remember what it was, or who wrote it! But that's how I discovered and come to love Zinnia. The flowers are pretty, too!I think Zinnia needs a slightly more common middle to balance it out:Zinnia Claire
Zinnia Madeline
Zinnia Grace
Zinnia Meredith
Zinnia Jacqueline

I think Zinnia is bright, happy, friendly and sweet, just like the flowers. We considered this name when pregnant with our DD and I still think it’s lovely. Esme Zinnia is beautiful! I adore the name Esme and the combo just sounds so pretty together. Zinnia Joelle and Zinnia Eloise are lovely too.

Don't like it

I'm really loving Zinnia at the moment. I had no idea it was the name of Matilda's mom -- that's such a minor association that I don't think it'd be an issue. Zinnia Eloise is very pretty.

It would be really appealing to me, if I didn't recognize it as Zinn (surname) +ia. That's just kinda weird to me.
But I do like it, just not as a personal favorite.
I've seen the movie Matilda twice but I don't recall anyone named Zinnia in it. Didn't read the book.
I think it's more a first-name sort of name, than a middle. Zinnia Thaïs
Zinnia Deirdre
Zinnia Guinevere
Zinnia Madeline

There is also Xenia as well. I like Esme Zinnia actually it's kind of cute and makes me think of a little red head girl in braids.
