Apparently it was nearly unheard of until Gregory Peck. It entered the top 50 in 1947 and stayed there until 1988.
I feel that I *should* like it. It's got a neat history, lots of great namesakes, but I don't. Greg brings to mind a young man in the 1950s, the "all American boy." The fake idyllic surburban/small town life of Leave it to Beaver/The Andy Griffin Show. Boys will be boys, wink, wink, nudge, nudge but girls need to be perfect virgins.
A bit much, I know, but I'm reading the book the novie That Darn Cat was based on and the underlying racism, classism, and sexism is appalling.
