Joshua
What do you think of Joshua. To me it still feels au courante, especially as a middle name. It complements Isaac, Samuel and Benjamin beautifully.I also think the form Yeshua is very, very beautiful. Of course people on here will be repelledby something holier then... well, Gertie or whatever, but I am enthralled by it. I also like it spelled with an I: Ieshua, and Iesua, and even Iesiua. In my choral writing, I prefer to write Iesu in Latin (with an I), and am not averse to using Yeshua in place of Jesus in musical texts.

It feels like the name of an all-American Christian boy who plays quarterback football. I don't even know what quarterback football is, but like Joshua, it feels stereotypically American to ridiculous degrees to my central European mind. Also, the "shoe" sound is very unappealing to me.
Yeshua also has the unpleasant "shoe" part, and the "y" sound makes it feel breathy. It feels very Messianic "Jewish" to me (putting Jewish in quotation marks because I'm pretty sure Messianic Judaism has little to do with Judaism).

Joshua is a fantastic name, but so are Isaac, Samuel and Benjamin. Clearly I have no issue with biblical names, as you can see by my kids names!

I like Yeshua because it's crisper than Joshua, which sounds pretty mealy to me. I detest Josh.
