I say VAL-en-teen on first glance, but I could get used to VAL-en-tin. Reminds me a bit of Quentin, and so it does sound masculine to my ears. I think that it could work--better than fully Valentine, if nothing else. A kid called Valentin might have some trouble when he's young, but he'd be pretty much fine as an adult, I think; it sounds like one of those names a person grows to appreciate. And the nn Val is hot. ;)

I like Fletcher Valentin's rhythm better. It sounds jazzy to me, but that's because I hear Fletcher Henderson (a big band leader of the 40s) when I say it.
