Merope
What do you think of Merope (mair uh pee) as a female name?
It's the name of a star in the star cluster known as the seven sisters.
Eta: I completely forgot about Merope, mother of Voldemort. Ugh, does kind of put a damper on what I think is a pretty name.

I've never heard of this name before. It would only ever be a GP for me for 2 reasons: It looks like a combination of Me + Rope, and sounds like it rhymes with "therapy".
I had no idea it was the name of Voldemort's mother.
I love it.
I love it.
Someone asked about it a month ago, which got me thinking about it. My visual for it is dusk or like lilac/mauve velvet.
I think it looks elegant in certain combos.
It does sound a bit heavy/morose to me, like Dolores would, but I somewhat like Dolores, and there's something endearing about it like Opal; also, I guess, names like Antiope and Meri.
The HP character complicates it, but I think if it was actually used, people would get over that (at least, that used to be my only association, and I warmed up to it quickly). And I think the majority of people aren't going to remember that reference strongly to begin with.

Can’t really get past the Voldemort association, though I don’t know how obvious it will be on the long run .
It just looks like me rope. The pronunciation sounds too much like a smushing of Mary and P. Or Mary and Pee.
I will forever think of it as the name of Voldemort's mother, because that's honestly the first place I came across the name! Even though I was a classics nerd as a kid, somehow I missed that name.
It seems like a name for an unfortunate person, because of that association (with Voldemort). His mother had a very sad story.
BUT it's an interesting name and I'd still be excited to meet one.

I like it a lot!
Asterope is even better though.

It looks awkward on paper (me, rope)
It's the name of Lord Voldemort's mother.
It ends in "pee".
Merry could be a cute NN.
