I like Liberty, and nn Libby for it.
It's kind of a cerebral name to give to a kid. Like Prudence, but much less uptight, heh.
Libby by itself doesn't really grab me - without full name Liberty it's sort of a dated nick for Elizabeth, along the lines of Peggy for Margaret.

I like both, and have Liberty on my “Considering” list on my PNL right now. Being from the US, I just feel like if I were to ever use it people would assume me to be some kind of overzealous American, like people who name their children Freedom or something silly like that.

Liberty feels at least borderline cheesy to me. I kind of like Libby, though. I'd be more invited to use it as a stand alone.

Libby is gross, like somebody with blubbery fat lips talking. Libby the Flabby Flibbertyjibbet.
Liberty at least has a nice meaning but it doesn't really sound like a person's name; it sounds like a corporation, like Liberty Mutual; every day I hear the "liberty liberty liberty, liiih-ber-tee" jingle on TV.

Like the daughter of Greg and Terry in American Dad? I like the name Liberty, and I don't mind Libby but because my family had a dog named it when I was growing up I always think of it as a puppy name, same as Chloe haha

I think Liberty is really nice and Libby makes a cute nn. I don’t like Libby as a full name though.

Libby as a nickname for Liberty is just too "try hard". Funnily enough, I have come across the exact moniker, both name and nickname in a Jackie Collins novel. Is that where this is from?If not, just own it with your chest without the unnecessary nicknames.

Very pretty.

I think it's a good name, just unusual. I prefer the nickname Bertie to Libby.
