What do you think of the name Melisande? I think it’s lovely. I read a medieval romance back when I was a young teen and this was the name of the heroine. I’ve always loved the name but I’m not sure it would work today. What do you think? Maybe as a middle name.

I think it's beautiful and I personally like that it can be shortened to Mel, Melisa, or Sandy. Imagine meeting a Sandy who was actually a Melisande! Amazing.

It would be a surprising middle name too, very nice.

I like it. It's very romantic and elegant. I'd use it on a character, but not on a baby because it would only have a small chance of working (it only work if your baby happened to turn out elegant, graceful, hyper-feminine, and leaning towards fantastical and romantic things).

Gorgeous, but would work best as a middle name. Not many good nicknames.

I know someone named Melis (it's her full name, but it would be a good nickname for Melisande). I'd also say Mel is okay (if dated) but Sandy is pretty bad.
