Shelby
What are your thoughts on Shelby? It seems to have disappeared so quickly after its rise.Does it sound dated to you along the lines of Courtney and Lindsay or still kind of fresh? Please rate my list: https://www.behindthename.com/pnl/6232

I hate Shelby. It’s dated and quite ugly. “Shel” and “bee” don’t belong together sonically. Yecch!

It's ... okay. Reminds me of Shelley, which I like pretty well, but it's dated. And I don't like -by endings at all.
It does sound dated like Courtney and Lindsay - but since it wasn't so heavily used, I think it is more appealing now than those are.

When I was growing up my older sister was friends with twin girls named Sadie and Shelby. I remember thinking all the way back then and in the present how I preferred Sadie's name between the two. It just feels kind of awkward and clunky in my mouth. Of the "Shell" names I prefer Michelle, Michella or Rochelle.

I’ve been digging it lately, for a girl and for a boy, actually. I think it’s got charm. I guess you could argue it’s dated but I don’t feel like it was popular enough to really fit the category. It’s no Brittany or Amber, that’s for sure.

I had bad experiences with a few Shelbys (females) so I don't really like this name. However, there was another Shelby my age (another girl) had a twin sister named Bailey. I do find it dated though.
