Autumn
What are your thoughts on Autumn? It's my favorite season.Any idea why it has been falling? I'm confused because Summer, Winter and nature-names in general (River, Wren, Robin, Juniper etc.) are rising like crazy.I don't think people got tired of it because it was never that popular in the first place and when you consider that only one spelling is really in use that makes it even less common because other names that have several common spellings would surpass it on the charts. Please rate my list: https://www.behindthename.com/pnl/6232

I really enjoy Autumn - both the season (providing I'm taking my allergy meds) and the name. I had Autumn in my Top 10 for a while, but I always struggled with finding a good middle name for it. (I think I settled for Autumn Elise.)In terms of popularity, I doubt Autumn will ever rise past the bottom half of the Top 100. The main reason I say this is because its ending is fairly unusual. Aside from Miriam / Maryam / etc., I struggle to think of familiar feminine names in the U.S. that end in am M (or an M sound, as with Autumn). N and R endings are more commonplace.

Maybe it’s because more substantial nature names have been getting attention like River, Juniper, and Sage. (Even though River has been getting popular ever since River Phoenix’s death in 1993) With that being said, I don’t have a problem with it but I can’t say I like it either. It’s not that bad though. I really like the name Summer but couldn’t care less for Winter.

I guess I am example of this phenomenon, though I can't explain it. Autumn is a name I adored for many years. I've never met one, but there used to be an old song with the name in it. Somewhere along the way, the name has slipped a couple of notches for me. I like it still. But I no longer love it. I now lean towards Summer and, obviously, Winter. That's my cat's name but I'd totally use it on a human. I'm even kind of liking Spring as a name. I like all four, but Autumn is my least favorite of the season names now and I don't know why.

Autumn is likewise my own favorite season but I dislike the name as I've only known snobby women with it so it's ruined. I'm not opposed to Summer or Winter though. I think it is falling because similar to me it has a particular imagine right now that isn't the greatest, plus it isn't particular feminine like a lot of the top names so I can see why it is falling out of favor tbh.

*shrug* Maybe it's not so much that Autumn is getting unpopular, just that other names are getting more popular and pushing it farther down the list?I like Autumn, almost enough to use. But I like Summer better, both the season and the name.
