Jessamine
What are your thoughts on Jessamine?Do you prefer JESS-uh-min or JESS-uh-meen?I am a bit shocked by its comment, people are basically saying that it sounds like a trashy mixture of Jessica and Jasmine. But to me it always sounded sweet and botanical. And for the record, Jessamine, Jasmine or Jessica? Please rate my list: https://www.behindthename.com/pnl/6232

I love Jessamine; I love the sound, and the way it's floral but not obviously so. It's better than Jessica because there's no "ick" in it. I've always loved the nn Jessie, also. I pronounce it jess-a-min, with a short i.

I think Jessamine is so pretty. I say "meen". I personally think it's nicer than Jasmine.

IMO, it's too sweet and too botanical! And frillier than Jasmine. I prefer JESS-uh-min, because then it's over more quickly.I much prefer Jessica, almost enough to use.

I never saw it as trashy either, it always had kind of a dusty cowgirl kind of connotation to me. I think it's cute, old fashioned and sweet, like Sadie or Emma. I like it. Maybe I have different associations because the first place I saw this name was on author Jessamyn West.

I love Jessamine, and Jasmine, and Jessica. They're all such pretty names. I also love Jessamy, and another variation from an Australian friend of mine, who is white but married a Sikh Indian man; they have a daughter named Jessminder, which works equally well in India and in Australia, where she usually gets called Jessie.I would use Jessamine (with -min rather than -meen) in a heartbeat if I didn't have a cousin called Jessica already.

Jessamine is a lovely name - even if it looks like a mashup of Jessica and Jasmine, 2 names I absolutely do not like. Jessamine feels both strong and dependable, while still being sweet and demure.
I prefer jess-uh-MINE, actually - with a long EYE sound.
As for the "Jessamine, Jasmine, or Jessica" choice? Jessamine all the way!
