Unless your friend's name was different, the second syllable is pronounced -leen. Rhyming with Josephine. But I can't get - leen out of -lyn.

No doubt my friend's name was different - the -lyn certainly sounded like Lynn. And I think I prefer it her way, or maybe it's just what I'm used to: it's not a name I like, whatever it sounds like.ETA: Some parents do turn Madeline into Madelyn!
