Afrikaans-speaking South Africans use Magdalena a lot, often in a combo with Maria and usually shortened to either Magda or Lena. And the pronunciation is MAKH dah LEE uhnah.

I find any four-syllable version inconveniently long, and greatly prefer Magdalen (in English; it also solves the pronunciation problem.
