I think of the new testament, specifically Matthew Chapter 4:21 where Jesus Christ calls James and John "the sons of Zebedee"...More accurately, I think of some New England
Pilgrim pioneerr or settler who wears a funny black hat and quotes the Bible and thinks that witches are responsible for his pigs and rutabagas dying...

Barely sounds like a name.

Hi !!!Here in Italy the "usual" form is Zebedeo with the variant Zebedia (m) and Zebedea (f).I dislike any form of this name (Zebedee and Zebadiah as well).I dislike the sound of the name and its austere and Biblical vibe. Not my cup of tea.

I love the sound, it's zippy and fun. I think Zeb would be a great nickname. But I do think it'd be a harder to wear name, so it's a GP for me.

I like Zebedee as a guilty pleasure, I think it's fun to say. I can see "Zeb" being used in real life but probably as a nickname for something else...

I have a great-great-uncle whose name was Zebedee but he went by Zeno. For a human, I would use Zebulon with the nickname Zeb. For a pet, Zebedee would be great.
