I think it could work on both genders! I don’t know what to pair it with because I’m no good at making combos.

Masculine. I'd rate it a high 9/10 - I adore it's mythological associations, aristocratic sound, the very feminine Rose element in a nonetheless masculine name. Ambrose... John? Jonathan? I want to pair it with a boring J name.

I adore Ambrose on a boy, 10/10. I had a dream once that I had a son named Ambrose and fell in love with the name. In the dream, he was Ambrose Xavier Winter, so that's my go-to Ambrose combo.

I see it as very masculine-handsome but I guess I can kind of see why some would think it could work on a girl, it's sort of like Amber+Rose. Actually "Amber" would be a cute nickname for it, even on a boy I think.

I'd probably rate it about a 7, and would more likely use it as a middle name than a first.

I adore Ambrose! It's baroque and genteel but also kind of roguish. I could see it working on a girl, but I prefer it on a boy.

Ambrose Vivian is my go-to combo. I also like Ambrose Wolfgang and Ambrose Ignatz.

I can see this only on a boy. It brings to mind a kind of glitzy, flouncy kind of guy who is a lot of fun. I'd rate it a 5.

Either, but mostly boy. On a boy I find it to be a handsome, solid sort of name. But I can totally see it working on a girl as well, kind of like a smooshed version of Amber Rose, which has a hippie/naturey vibe.
