I think it's a really wonderful and meaningful name which should be reconsidered. It's a springy name too.

I find this name terribly Romantic in a forlorn way. I think because it reminds me of the world "lone" as in, solitary. I think of someone very proud and cold and rather unpleasant, a classic ice queen. It's a "touch-me-not" sort of name, not entirely likeable. Yet it has a rather cheerful sound - that "nee" at the end is so cute, so disarming!It's a complex name for me, despite looking so simple. I like it, maybe love it, but only at arms length.

For what it's worth, I was at school with an Ione, and everyone accepted it as if it was as normal as Alison. No teasing, no raised eyebrows, nothing bad at all. I don't like the look or the sound of it, but I'm glad about that.
