Ruth
Do you like Ruth?
I did a poll on it and people were pretty much torn. About a third thought it sounded nice, a third that it sounded okay and a third that it sounded absolutely awful?
What do you think?
I personally like its history and meaning. I also really like the look of it, it looks cute. But I must say I dislike the sound. Where do you stand?
Oh and the big final question of Biblical R-names: Rachel, Ruth or Rebecca?

I used to dislike Ruth and considered it either very elderly- or stiff-sounding, but now I have more liking for it. I don't even know why it has changed so much. I don't necessarily love it, but it's really not bad. I really like the Biblical character of Ruth, I like it's virtuous connection, and now I don't think it's all that elderly anymore. Ruthie is cute. I also like Rut without the h, but obviously it depends in which language since it's rather awkward in English. Still, as for the sound, there are names which are much more appealing in this particular respect.
As for Biblical names, I definitely like Rachel most, and then Ruth. I don't dislike Rebecca but it feels a bit boring and uninteresting.

I LOVE the name Ruth, it’s a fave of mine. I’ve always loved the story of Ruth in the Bible, so have grown up loving the name too. The sound of it doesn’t bother me at all. I also think Ruthie is such an adorable nn. I’d be more likely to use it as a mn and it holds some significance for my DH and I, as I used verses from the book of Ruth in my wedding vows. We thought about using it for Eden’s mn, but wanted something longer and an A name for both our maternal grandmothers. If I ever had another DD, Ruth would be a very strong contender for somewhere in the name :)
ETA: I’d go with Ruth, for all the reasons listed above. I do think all three names are lovely though and actually know three sisters with those names!

I love everything about it, and I really love it as a middle name.
I love it as an mn. I think it's a strong Biblical name, but also quite gentle and soft. However I think it can come off a bit plain as an fn, and I know many people dislike it. Some people also use the nickname Ruthie, which I don't care for.
Some combos I've considered it in are Thalia Naomi Ruth and Georgina Lily Ruth.
ETA: Ruth is my favorite out of the three, but all three are respectable names. I think Rachel looks good on paper, but it can sound a bit harsh sometimes.

it feels perpetually dated to me.. like no matter how many old names make a come back it will always be old
It's nice . Out of the 3 I like Rebecca
Lovely
It's staid but not wan. It packs a punch delicately.

I really like Ruth it’s always been one of my favourites.
As for picking between Ruth, Rachel and Rebecca though I’m biased. Rebecca is my name so it will always be my favourite. Then Rachel as I’ve answered to that often enough when a customer I’m unlikely to see again forgets my name despite the name badge then Ruth.
I love all of them though.

Kinda meh honestly. But I don’t have a problem with it.
