Alfie or Leonardo?
I had a dream that someone I dislike was planning to name her baby Alfie, but at the last minute, chose Leonardo instead. When I saw her I said “You chose correctly.” How would you choose? (This person did recently have a real baby, and named it Reece.)

I like both, but prefer Leonardo “Leo”.
Leonardo but I like Alfie too. I used to like Reece (this spelling) but I've totally gone off it.
Leonardo
Leonardo
Alfie...
I am in the minority. Had you sked me even a year ago, I'd have almost certainly said Leonardo. But I like Leon more, and even Leonard is growing on me. I've never liked Alfie. Until very recently. It has a sort of jaunty charm I never really appreciated before. I don't know where this new found appreciation comes from. Maybe the revival of names like Betty, Bonnie, etc... for girls? And, of course Archie has a similar vibe. I actually do not like Alfred. So I'd just straight up use Alfie.

Leonardo
Leonardo.
I really dislike this super-cutesy-nickname-name trend. Alfie is one of the worst. It is fine as a nickname but on it's own it is so silly to me.

I Hate Alfie, and I can only see it as a dog's name. I would have definitely chosen Leonardo. Leonardo is very handsome, and it isn't very common where I am. Not a name that you hear every day. We also have the famous bearers Leonardo Da Vinci, and Leonardo DiCaprio (hot, lol). Both very namesakes imo.
Leonardo is much better IMHO. Alfie feels very childish and inconsistent.
They are both awful, but at least Leonardo doesn't sound like a cartoon brat.
If it was Alfred, I'd say that one because I love Alfred, but just-Alfie, I dunno, I think I'd get bored of it quickly, so I guess I'd go with Leonardo. Nobody would be surprised at all if I had a kid named Leonardo, I could pull it off.
I know lots of young Alfie's and Leo's, they could (weirdly) be brothers IRL.
Leonardo Da Vinci is one heck of a name sake so I would opt for Leonardo.
However, I have a soft spot for Freddie and prefer it to the shortened Leo, so if it were between Alfred and Leonardo, I'd choose Alfred "Freddie".

I like Alfred too. If it wasn’t for the NN as FN aspect, which I think is mad dumb, I’d have a hard time choosing between Alfred and Leonardo
Leonardo for sure. I like Alfie and the like when it is a nickname for something longer but as it stands by itself I'm not a huge fan of nicknames as legal names usually (with a few exceptions)
* also it's interesting that you were talking about a name dream in which an acquaintance of yours picked something because it was just a few weeks ago I had a dream that someone I knew named their daughter Penelope, and in my waking hours I don't really mind it too much in fact I like it but for some reason in this dream I just HATED that idea lmao
