I think it's cool, it's cute while also somehow being very serious. Like I would imagine a Nanette to be a very stern person for some reason, very deadpan, dry sarcastic humour. Maybe because of that Hannah Gadsby special that was called Nanette, I've got that association.
I don't think nicknames are unavoidable. I say Nanette closer to "Ninette" so Nancy and Nan would be harder to use naturally, so would Nettie. I'd just say Nanette.

I don't really like it
Very cute with that retro Hollywood vibe. I do not believe nicknames are ever inevitable. I think family sets the tone for that. That has been my experience. I always use the example of two boys I've known named Patrick. One was often called Pat by his friends, and his parents called him that sometimes as well. The other was never once called anything other than Patrick by his peers, or by his family. And technically, Nanette is already sort of a nickname.
