Nora
Personally, I really love this name! I've always been obsessed with it. I like how it's short, sweet, and soft, but it also has a sassy and edgy vibe to it. What are your honest opinions on the name Nora? (Also, yes. I'm the same guest who posted the day before yesterday. I'm kind of shy, so I log out before I post now sometimes. Sorry, I my start posting again with my name soon. But for now, I'm staying as a "Guest".)

I LOVE Nora. The -ora sound is very warm and friendly IMO. At the same time, I think there’s a lot of quiet strength in it. I also love Cora and Thora (TO-ra) and Dora is growing on me. Also: Don’t be shy :) Come join the fun.

I don't understand the hype for thisI don't mind the name and even a little bit enjoy it when it needs a nickname for something longer like Eleanor, Lenore, Leonora, Annora, Menora etc. but when it is by itself it feels very plain and lifeless. I like the Norah spelling a little more but as it is I have no idea how it got back into style in some areas because it feels very much like an elderly spinster name in my mind. SO many more retro, short names that are better imo like: Sylvia
Marie
Edith
Helena
Maggie
Bernice
Thelma-Lou
Ruby
Betty
Irene
Dora- yes I like Dora better as a stand along more than Nora
Cora- this is the best of the 2 syllable-ora ending names imo
Rita
Molly
Hazel
Gloria
Joanie
Ruth
Vera
Vada
Cathleen
Jane
Amy
Rosa
Noreen? There's also Noreena/Norina, Nordica..

I feel like singer Norah Jones may be partly responsible for the revival of the name. I may be wrong, but it seems to have gradually become more popular after she became more well known. Could be a coincidence, though.

That is what I suspect as well

I like it. Would use it but my sister in law has a v similar name. Suits someone throughout their life at all ages.

This name was ruined for me after someone I dislike used it for their kid. I guess I ruined it for myself because I hold such ridiculous grudges. I used to love it because of the main character of "A Doll's House", I really enjoy that play and try to read it every winter. It seems very clever, capable, and wholesome. Intelligent and outdoorsy at the same time. I've replaced it with love of names that end in -nora, like Annora, Honora, Gwenora, or Eleanora.

I've always enjoyed Norah; I don't mind Nora at all but it does look unfinished. And I would be much more likely to use Laura, so I'd never use it, even as a mn. But I'd like to meet a yung Norah.

It’s a sweet name. To me it’s very spunky bookworm. My Nora students are clever kids with educated and exuberant parents. I think it’s pretty and decent and I appreciate it as a popular name

Don't really like it

I like it, but it’s always felt very nicknamey to me. And with so many of the longer versions being so beautiful it seems like a bit of a waste to go with just Nora.

I like Nora. And it will age nicely.

I love it too! It's really gentle and beautiful. I like the combo Nora Jane and Nora Bella!
