I personally actually like the name Ivy nevertheless of Poison Ivy.
I think it’s a lovely little name. Short, sweet, yet spunky too. It’s elegant without being stuffy, so also has a fun vibe to it and it ages well. I was so sad when it started climbing the charts after Beyoncé used it! I would consider using it, very nice.
Mediocre. I think IV (as in needle), ivy league schools. Neither are especially great.

I adore Ivy. I actually used to really loathe it, because it just sounded like / made me think of medical IVs. But now I think it’s very earthy and pretty.
I dislike it. It starts with 'I', which seems opinionated, and ends up as the name of an annoying and inconvenient plant.
I never thought of I-names as being "opinionated" before.... it's made me see them in a whole new light!
Only when the initial I sounds like the pronoun. Imogen is fine, so's Isobel. And I get the same uneasy feeling from names that sound as if they start with ME!
What about names that sound like they start with other pronouns? Yulia, Shira, Helios?
I love it, but I have a very specific image for Ivy on a person (light skin, long black hair, tall and thin). Iris and Holly are similar names that have a more flexible description for me.
One of the things I like about Ivy is that I don't automatically think of a color besides green, and I sometimes just like the 'green foliage' thing more than colorful flowers. I also think of ivy growing on old, mysterious buildings which gives it what I suppose is a dark academia feel.

Not a fan. In my senior year of high school, I volunteered at a day camp, and Ivy was the name of a bratty little troublemaker in the group I was assigned to. That's definitely put a damper on it for me.
Don't like it
Ivy is cute and not too boring!
I had a friend named Ivy, but everyone used to call her 'Poison Ivy,' so....

I love it. It's so sharp. It makes me think of vanity, in a good way.
I quite like it.
I used to really dislike Ivy, because it made me think of IVs and hospitals / ICUs. But I still thought the plant was very attractive (when properly "groomed," so to speak). It's also reminiscent of the Ivy League universities, places of prestige and (ostensibly) sophistication.
Ivy can work very well as both a first or middle name - it goes with a lot.

It's okay but not great.
What I like about it:
- ivy is pretty
- the sound is fine
- it looks nice
- it gives me this ancient feel of old buildings and dark green gardens and of winter and hot chocolate
What I dislike about it:
- it reminds me of IV
- it is trendy and overused
- ivy is poison
- I think it's one of those boring names that everyone kind of likes and that is often used as a compromise, same as Helena or Vivian

Ivy is both elegant and grounded
Ivy is one of my backup baby names for a reason. It has the class and elegance of my favorite long names while also being down to earth and "relatable" no one will bat an eye at an Ivy but they are still special imo. I forget which middle ideas I have cupped with it at the top of my head but I do love this name.
