Re: Olivia

I like Olivia. As a baby namenerd like 12 years ago, I didn't like it. I thought the sound was boring and not attractive, and I also thought of Olives. It seemed weird and formal. It grew on me over the years through overexposure. Now I think it's graceful and pretty, and I love the big round O at the beginning of it. It seems smart and just the tiniest bit dry - the V is kind of a dry sound. I like the dry quality a lot.I think it got popular for phonetic reasons. It sounds like all the other names that are megapopular alongside it - lots of vowels, a latinate (-a or -ia) ending, all the consonants are soft like "L" "V" "S" "N" It's gentle, flowery, fancy, and old-fashioned - a classic "tasteful" 2010s choice along with Isabella and Sophia.
