Ithell
A friend of mine brought the surrealist artist and occultist Ithell Colquhoun to my attention today, and I'm in love with her name.
I don't think it's a unique spelling of Ethel although I love that it coincides with that idea. I think it might be a variation of a Welsh name (Ithel), or maybe a surname? She was named Margaret Ithell after her mother Georgia Frances Ithell Manley.
What do you think of Ithell?

I like Ithell! It stands out, but it still has the look of an established name even though this is the first i've heard of it.
I like Ithell, Ethel, and Ithel for much of the same reasons. E's and I's often make for a good look and sound in shorter names, especially with that -el ending. I'd prefer Ithell used as its own name or as a variant of Ithel, as opposed to as a variant of Ethel, especially if the origins truly are different - but it's not like you can tell a namer's intention about that kind of thing unless they outright say it, anyway.

Prettier than Ethel, very nice. The artist is cool too, just looked her up.
