Re: Twin boys: Bellamy & Montague
Corbin is good, but not really my style. I kinda like Corvin more. Still wouldn't use.
Bellamy is ...nmsaa. I guess a guy called "Bell" seems neat. Not so much if he's called "Bellamy." It seems self-conscious because it is rare, trendy-style, a surname, and evokes certain characters. So, seems to want to seem remarkable and trendsetting and "cool." Bleh. At least it's not ugly or hard to say.
Montague is the kind of name I'd have liked when I was about 21. "Monty" has a dashing, humorous, black-sheep, retro/antique image. I wouldn't name a kid Montague today because I'd feel revealed as shallow by it - it's just so obvious to me, the imagey-ness, Romeo & Juliet, British nobility, Monty Python, it's kind of deliberately droll. I don't think that people *shouldn't* name kids that way, though, if they're feeling it. It's a decent name, and appealing enough, and he might really enjoy being named it.
Together they come off like someone made a real effort to pick imagey names to sound spiffy, spirited, and important. It's cute, but not my style.- mirfak
